Earlier this year, Lego announced that he had the Greenlit Sonic The Hedgehog Lego Set submitted by fans through the Lego ideas platform. This set aims to recreate the Hill Green zone from Sonic Mania to commemorate the 30-year franchise. Fast forward for almost a year, and Sega has officially revealed the LEGO set of the last Green Hill Zone, and looks somewhat different from the re-approved Lego ideas in February.
For starters, the lego set announced today does not seem to be based on the stage like in Sonic Mania. Instead, this seems to be the original Green Hill zone of the first Hedgehog Sonic game. The set of hours at 1,125 pieces and created an original green hill zone stretch, complete with loop-de-loop, several palm trees, and even some badniks (as enemies at Sonic The Hedgehog called at the time) crab and motobug.
This set was originally handed over to the idea of Lego by 24-year-old Viv Grannell from England. Original pitch including robots running giant Dr. Eggman and two Eggrobo enemies from Sonic Mania, along with separate parts of the Hill Green zone.
In comparison, this finished set dropped the robot and placed Eggman on the known cellular vessel. Also there is no ggrobos seen, so whatever binds this to Sonic Mania seems to be lost. According to Lego, this set is equipped with ten ring boxes and four different TV screens that display some power-ups of Sonic the Hedgehog – invincible, super speed, shield, and 1-up. There is even a spring mechanism that can shoot Sonic into the air thanks to the help of a technical lever.
Lego even said that this is a modular set, which means it can be connected to other Hill Hill zone sets and might suggest that Lego plans to introduce more sets of hedgehog in the future. It has not been confirmed at the time of this writing, but considering that Lego has released several sets of Super Mario, we can see the same thing happening to Sonic the Hedgehog.
This is not the first time we saw our Sonic The Hedgehog in the form of Lego. Although this is the first official Sonic set of hedgehog, Blur Blu is displayed in the dimensions of the LEGO video game and has a minifigure in the form as a result. Lego Dimensions, such as Skylanders or Disney Infinity, are games where players can scan NFC numbers – in this case, LEGO minifigures on NFC stands – and play as characters in the game.
However, this Sonic The Hedgehog Set will be here before we find out. Lego announced today that Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone Set – because it was officially referred to – it would be launched at the Lego store and on the company’s website on New Year’s Day. The set will run $ 69.99, so it’s quite medium in terms of price. We will see if Lego announces more sonic sets in the future, but for now, look for this one to launch this weekend.
